 Visa to study in Latvia

For courses that are longer than 90 days, international students must have a Long Stay Student Visa (Type D). The students must apply for a residence permit in Latvia before the 90-day threshold for entry or as soon as they arrive.

How to Apply for Student Visa in Latvia:

Registration on the vfs website, where you can also make an appointment to submit your application, is the first step in obtaining a student visa in Latvia. For those without access to the nearest embassy or consulate, a video conference is an option for submitting the visa application. The VFS fees are roughly 20 euros, and an additional 35 euros in fees must be paid if there is a video conference.

When making and registering for the appointment, students must pay the visa fees.

Visa fees for Latvia are 60 euros and are not refundable.

The Latvian Long Stay Student Visa Application form is required for a successful visa application. Fill out the form after downloading it from the PLMP registration page. You must submit some supporting documents in addition to the application form. The required paperwork is listed below:

How to Apply in Latvia for a Residence Permit:

Nearly identical documentation is needed for the residence permit and the student visa. The Latvian university you applied to fills out the invitation letter for that. It is delivered to the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migration (OCMA), which also assesses it. The consulate charges 80 euros in fees. Additionally, there are 15 euros in legislative fees. The student is only given a type D student visa if the residence permit has been approved by the Office of Citizenship and Migration (OCMA). Make sure to apply for the student visa and residence permit as soon as possible because the entire process can take more than 40 days.
